`v-i` is an installer for the Debian operating system for "bare
metal", physical hardware computers (not virtual machines). It's **not
interactive**, and possibly only works on PCs. The author uses it for
all their installation needs.


# Motivation

[Lars Wirzenius](https://liw.fi) created `v-i` so that he could more
easily re-install Debian on his various computers. He feels that
installing an operating system on bare metal hardware should be a
fast, unexciting operation. If it happens often, it should be
automated as much as possible. Lars feels that as `v-i` is a single
command to run and takes a couple of minutes, his goals have been
achieved.
