Oops. Mea culpa. Please forgive my actions out of enthusiasm. (Just because
you can doesn't mean you should.)

I discovered the obnam project the other day and see it as potentially a
good fit for my needs:
I'm looking for an open source backup project that either fits with the
cloud, or could be tweaked to do so. Deltas. Blobs. Savesets. Etc.

Obnam looks like a great start in that direction. It's modular repo
back-end looks like it could easily be tweaked to store data remotely. It's
use of chunks and hashes means that small filesystem changes make for small
deltas. Some of the ideas (like bags) fit with some ideas I've been kicking
around.

When I found the http://obnam.org/format-green-albatross/ wiki page and saw
the direction it was heading I thought, how cool! (In fact somewhat similar
to ideas I've had, but much farther along code-wise.) "Current development
status is PONDERING" seemed to indicated that things are in the idea phase
and open to suggestion. And the edit link just asked for an e-mail address
and voila - I could edit the page. Talk about OPEN in OPEN SOURCE. Ideas
flowed.

Then I found the participation page
http://code.liw.fi/obnam/manual/ci/obnam-manual.en.html#participating-in-ob=
nam-development
and especially the governance section:

17.5 Project governance
> The Obnam project has a very informal form of governance: the founder of
> the project, Lars Wirzenius, has all the power, and everyone else has no
> power. As the project grows, this will change.
>

and

If you find anything that=E2=80=99s wrong, inaccurate, incomplete, missing,=
 or
> unclear, send a note to the developer mailing list.

Oops. Mea culpa. Please forgive my actions out of enthusiasm. (Just because
you can doesn't mean you should.)

I've reverted most of the changes I made on the
http://obnam.org/format-green-albatross/ wiki page. Probably there is an
easy way to roll them all back by undoing the deltas (it looks like it's
saved in git).

I'd like to contribute both ideas and code if I'm still welcome. Obviously
I could fork the project and head off in my own direction, but I think some
of what I'd like to do could potentially be useful to others to. If you are
interested in my thoughts, please let me know.
